A strong password helps you to secure your control panel account.<\/p>\n<p>To learn more about team owners and users, read control panel\u2019s <em>Manage Team<\/em>\u00a0interface (<em>control Panel<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0<em>Home<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb\u00a0<em>Preferences \u00bb Manage Team<\/em>) documentation.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>Hosting providers can update a control panel account\u2019s password in WHM\u2019s <em>Password Modification<\/em>\u00a0interface (<em>WHM \u00bb Home \u00bb Account Functions \u00bb Password Modification<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h2 id=\"change-your-password\">Change your password<\/h2>\n<p>To change your password, enter the desired information and click\u00a0<em>Change your password now!<\/em>, or use the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cloud.srcservers.net:2222\/CMD_FILE_MANAGER\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Password Generator<\/em><\/a>\u00a0feature.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<p>You\u00a0<strong>must<\/strong>\u00a0enable Digest Authentication if you use Windows\u00ae Vista, Windows\u00ae 7, Windows\u00ae 8, or Windows\u00ae 10 and you access Web Disk over a clear text, unencrypted connection.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"create-a-strong-password\">Create a strong password<\/h3>\n<p>To ensure your account\u2019s security, make\u00a0<strong>certain<\/strong>\u00a0to create a strong password:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use a different password for each of your important accounts (for example, your email accounts).<\/li>\n<li>Use a combination of letters, numbers, and symbols in your pass.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 id=\"password-generator\">Password Generator<\/h3>\n<p>This feature generates secure passwords, which are difficult for malicious users to guess. You can use the\u00a0<em>Pass Generator<\/em>\u00a0feature in any interface that displays it.<\/p>\n<p>When you click\u00a0<em>Pass Generator<\/em>, a new window appears that contains a generated pass in a text box. Click <em>Generate Pass<\/em>\u00a0until it generates a satisfactory pass.<\/p>\n<h4 id=\"configure-security-requirements\">Configure security requirements<\/h4>\n<p>To set the security requirements of the new password, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click\u00a0<em>Advanced Options<\/em>.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the desired length of the pass in the <em>Length<\/em>\u00a0text box.<\/li>\n<li>Select whether to include uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, or symbols.<\/li>\n<li>Copy the pass in a safe place and select the <em>I have copied this pass in a safe place<\/em>\u00a0checkbox at the bottom of the window.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<em>Use Pass<\/em> to use the generated pass. To reject the password and close the <em>Pass Generator<\/em>\u00a0window, click\u00a0<em>Cancel<\/em>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h2 id=\"external-authentication\">External Authentication<\/h2>\n<p>Your system administrator may allow users to access cPanel with external authentication credentials (for example, control panel ID, WHMCS, Google\u00ae Accounts, Facebook\u00ae, or your hosting provider\u2019s portal). This functionality allows you to reduce the number of passwords that you need to remember.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<em>External Authentication<\/em> tab lists the credentials for OpenID Connect-compliant identity providers that you can use to log in to control panel and Webmail. You can also use this section of the interface to link new credentials or unlink existing credentials.<\/p>\n<div class=\"callout callout-warning\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Important:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>This section\u00a0<strong>only<\/strong>\u00a0appears if the server administrator has configured at least one external authentication module.<\/li>\n<li>This interface\u00a0<strong>only<\/strong>\u00a0displays the external authentication identity providers that your hosting provider selects in WHM\u2019s\u00a0<em>Manage External Authentications<\/em>\u00a0interface (<em>WHM \u00bb Home \u00bb Security Center \u00bb Manage External Authentications<\/em>).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout callout-info\">\n<div class=\"callout-heading\">Note:<\/div>\n<div class=\"callout-content\">\n<ul>\n<li>Most identity providers allow you to register for an account as part of the authentication process.<\/li>\n<li>Your\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/cloud.srcservers.net\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">control panel ID<\/a> uses the same username and password that you use for the control panel Store, the control panel Tickets system, and the Manage2 billing system. If you do not already use a control panel ID, you can register for one during the authentication process.<\/li>\n<li>You can link one or more external accounts to one or more control panel accounts, WHM accounts, or Webmail accounts.<\/li>\n<li>If you link to an external account through an identity provider that uses two-factor authentication, you\u00a0<strong>must<\/strong>\u00a0also authenticate through that identity provider in addition to any two-factor authentication that you configure on your server.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3 id=\"link-your-account\">Link your account<\/h3>\n<p>To link your control panel or Webmail account to credentials at an external authentication identity provider, perform the following steps:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Click the\u00a0<em>External Authentication<\/em>\u00a0tab.<\/li>\n<li>Click\u00a0<em>Link Account<\/em>\u00a0next to the name of the appropriate identity provider. A new login interface will appear for that identity provider.<\/li>\n<li>Enter the requested username, password, and other credentials for that identity provider. If you are currently logged in to that identity provider, the interface will skip this step.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm that you wish to allow the provider to link to your control panel or Webmail account.<\/li>\n<li>Confirm that you wish to link your control panel account to the provider\u2019s authentication credentials.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<h3 id=\"unlink-your-account\">Unlink your account<\/h3>\n<p>To unlink external authentication identity provider credentials from your account, click\u00a0<em>Unlink Account<\/em>\u00a0next to the appropriate account.
